Enjoy A Pest less Kitchen 31

Last week, we covered what to do when you find termites in your home. We don’t wish termites on our worst enemy. They only live to eat, and by eat we mean destroy your home. We hope you never have to use this information, but we want it to be right here in case you forgot to look into scheduling an annual termite inspection with us this year.

On our last blog, there were some reactive steps we recommend you take when termites invade. On this one, we’re tackling the lesser-known items on the termite agenda – what not to do.

  • Do Not Disturb if you find them on the outskirts of your home. If you mess with the colony, they might see it as an invitation to move – further into your home.
  • Do Not Exterminate on your own. The formula that Command uses to prevent and get rid of termites is safe for your home and family, but not everyone can tout that so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  • Do Not Keep lumber, fallen branches, or trash around your property
  • Do Not Use Wood Mulch unless you want to provide more for the critters to feed on! Rubber mulches are a great alternative

Termites don’t always become visibly noticeable until it’s too late to reverse the damage. Getting termite inspections is like having insurance on your car. You hope you don’t need it, but you’re grateful if you do. Head over to our Facebook and Twitter pages and take a look at our helpful termite videos.
